The Physical MeasureTo complement the discussion event Measures of Place taking place as part of the Forum strand this year, this film programme looks at 'measure' of landscape and the way in which we interact with it and impose (ourselves) upon it—both in terms of the built environment and psychogeography. All of the four films in this programme take a very different approach, from the conquer-or-be-conquered challenge laid down by the Old Man of Hoy in Grant Gee's The Western Lands: Hoy to Phil Coy's Wordland, a lyrical, quasi-documentary work which investigates the erosion of coast and consciousness in Norfolk. |
