Festival Week: Exhibitions & related

Night scene, NY building (Jem Cohen)

AURORA 2009 features a linked selection of exhibitions and talks. At Outpost Gallery, radical artist collective Ultra-Red & the Rural Racism Project exhibit an archive of their sound work with anti-racist activists and communities affected by racism alongside a unique public event, What is the Sound of Anti-Racism in the UK?. At Norwich Arts Centre, Jem Cohen shows new polaroids and black and white prints of his street- and city-photography of New York; whilst John Jordan (Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination) talks about art, activism and creative resistance; and Stuart Hobday offers an illustrated overview of the life of Thomas Paine, born 200 years ago this November.
